The photographs in this section were taken mainly in 1974 but there may be some earlier or later.

Charlemont Square East.

Fountain Street runs from Maytown Road to Church Road. It was the first street to be built in Bessbrook and some of the houses may have already existed before the Richardsons came. All the small houses on the right have now been demolished.

Another view of Fountain Street.

The fountain at the top of the street was demolished in the early 1970s and replaced by a public convenience. This edifice survived for less than ten years.

Main Street at the bottom of Fountain Street showing the open ends of the ball alleys. They have now been remodelled and enclosed.
